Design Team Manager Ryu Narae I Senior Designer at Shyman I Holder of a Teaching Credential
¡°I believe it's important to work
with people who trust in your ability.
Thanks to this trust, I've worked hard and time has flown by.
My goal is to work at Shyman until I can draw my national pension.
Please introduce yourself.
Hello, I am Ryu Narae, the manager and senior designer of Shyman's Media Content Team. Nice to meet you.
Is it true that you have a teaching credential?
Actually, my dream was to become a teacher when I was a student. I pursued education-related studies in college. Naturally, I completed education courses along with my major, and I even experienced the dreamy teacher training that you usually see on TV. Ultimately, I am proud to have earned my Secondary School Teacher's Certificate.
You graduated from Kookmin University's Chinese Language Department? You must have studied very hard.
To confess, I was not consistently studious. I was actually a cramming maniac. Being an outgoing person, I focused more on playing with friends in school. However, I had good momentary concentration and listened well to teachers during exam periods. I especially caught on to what to emphasize in understanding and studied only the likely exam topics. This has continued to my work approach as well. Normally, I enjoy working fun and playfully, but I focus intently when it's crucial. Now, there seems to be a lot of things I need to concentrate on.

Customers really like your designs, is there a secret?
When I first learned design, I was told, "Design is not art." I loved art since I was young and didn't understand that statement initially, but I think the most important aspect of design is achieving the objective, which in Shyman's case, is sales. Therefore, I believe it's crucial to draw out designs that customers want. I'm very aware that the designs I create directly affect franchise sales, so I'm always careful yet strive to create designs that effectively generate sales.
I understand you've been with the company for a long time.
It's already been five years. When I first joined, the CEO really liked the portfolio I prepared. I still wonder why he liked it so much, but perhaps he felt the sincerity and potential in my earnest efforts. Thank you, CEO. Additionally, when working, I think it's crucial to be with people who trust your ability. This trust has motivated me to work hard, and time has passed quickly. My goal is to work at Shyman until I can draw my national pension. CEO, you will support this, right?

You are known to have many hobbies, can you tell us about them?
Yes, I might be broke, but I'm rich in hobbies. I enjoy dynamic activities like bowling, hiking, and fitness, as well as static ones like drawing and reading. I also love socializing and traveling around to meet people. If anyone likes bowling and hiking, feel free to contact me without hesitation.
Franchisees particularly like you, what's the secret?
They might like me for my looks(?) Just kidding. Having worked at Shyman for a long time, I've wondered why franchisees particularly like me. I asked them directly, and the answer was 'trust.' I wondered what I had done to earn this trust, and realized I just did my job without any tricks. There wasn't anything special; maybe they just liked the straightforward way I worked. And maybe my sociability? I naturally have good people skills, which might have played a significant role as well. Thank you, franchisees, for your trust. I will not let you down.
It's known you manage many tasks inside the company, isn't it hard?
Thanks to Executive Director Lee Jae-yoon, our franchise count and the company have been growing. With more franchisees, there have been more requests. In the past, the Director handled everything including customer service, but I've been helping him out in recent years. While I can't do everything, I try my best. It's less burdensome to share the load, and I do my best to help. He trusts me, after all.

What is your dream?
My dream is to help Shyman become not just the top unmanned adult product franchise in South Korea but also a top global company. I believe we will achieve this. I hope to become the head of a Shyman overseas branch and contribute to its growth as a global company. It's not far off. Please look forward to it.
Finally, what would you like to say to the franchise owners and potential franchisees?
I promise our franchisees that I will always create designs that cater to customers' needs. I will prioritize your sales above all. I will continue to listen to customers to enhance our marketing and pay close attention to you, the franchisees, to support your store operations. Thank you.
